Dr. Susan Patrick
Dr. Susan Patrick, Psy.D is a licensed psychologist with a private practice in Flagstaff, Arizona. Her Master’s degree is from California Institute of Integral Studies in Counseling Psychology, and her Psy.D is from the University of Northern Colorado. Susan has worked in the public sector in community mental health, elementary, secondary and university settings, on Native American Indian reservations, and as a drug clinic manager, prior to working in private practice.
Susan is a Certified Gottman Therapist and utilizes the Gottman Method Couples therapy interventions, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. She is trained in EMDR and has experience working with individuals with medical concerns, and with chaotic family and trauma backgrounds. She assists couples with developing more satisfying communication, increasing/rekindling fondness and admiration, and deepening emotional connection. She teaches couples specific ways to address past regrettable incidents and to soften and manage current conflict.
Dr. Patrick is a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Instructor, and long term meditator. She also provides workshops and consultation to public and private agencies on decreasing stress/bringing mindfulness into the workplace.
Dr. Steven Patrick
Dr. Steven Patrick, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist with a private practice located in beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona. He has a master’s degree in Humanistic Psychology from the University of West Georgia and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Steve has worked in the public sector through community mental health, at a federal prison and with Indian Health Services prior to going into private practice. He now specializes in working with couples primarily utilizing Gottman-based interventions and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples.
Steven was trained directly under Dr. John and Julie Gottman. He is a certified Gottman therapist and is also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples. Steven frequently travels to Seattle to assist the Gottmans in their Art and Science of Love workshops. He assists couples through therapy and provides workshop training for couples to strengthen and enhance their relationship skills. Steve also provides training and consultation for other therapists seeking to develop their couples counseling skills. Steven is trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and is an avid meditator. He has developed mindfulness and compassion training with couples as elements of strengthening awareness and felt caring within the relationship.
